LG Unleashes EUR 2.83 Billion for OEL Display

Jakarta - LG Display, the screen production business unit of LG Electronics, plans to invest approximately USD 2.83 billion for the mass production of screen OEL (organic electroluminescence). Reportedly, LG OEL display is prepared for marketing of the second quarter of 2014.

OEL display the claimed power-saving and provides sharper image display, mentioned will soon replace the LCD screen, which until today still dominate the TV and other devices.

In addition to LG Display, Samsung Electronics is also rumored to have a similar plan. As a result, there will be two South Korean electronics giant that took over the 'power' Japan to the affairs of the latest generation displays for TVs.

"Investment LG Display will focus produce OEL display using what's called 8.5 generation glass substrates measuring 220 x 250 cm," said President of LG Display President Kwon Young-soo, as reported by Reuters and quoted on Wednesday (08/10/2011 ).

Before the start of mass production, LG Display will make a small OEL displays are joined by LG Electronics for use on bigger 55-inch TV. Although not yet started production, LG has put terget could sell 30 thousand units for the OEL screen TV with prime marketing.
